Community Christian Church History

Our founding pastor, Pastor Tom Pokorni (P.T.) came to Miami in 1983 led by a vision to serve widows, the fatherless and the aliens. He rented a second-floor store front apartment and held church services there for two years before moving to our current church home. Pastor Tom left behind a promising future in politics and all he knew to become and minister to a forgotten people.

Pastor Tom and his associate Pastor Bob Harwood and his wife Susie Harwood, shepherded a ragamuffin group of children who would grow up to be productive members of the Haitian community. Pastor Tom’s legacy of a heart for missions and the creative arts continues to fuel CCC in the many ministries that encompass the church.
